I am pursuing a public relations (PR) degree at Boston University because I’ve always been drawn to the idea of communication as more than just talking — it’s about human connection, influence, and storytelling. For me, PR feels like the sweet spot between creativity and strategy. I enjoy writing, learning about how messages resonate with different audiences, and tackling challenges with creative solutions. Studying PR gives me the chance to do all of that at once.

I knew that the school in which I studied PR would matter as well. I wanted to be somewhere I could tangibly practice the strategies I was learning, and being in Boston affords me this advantage. Boston is a city that offers vast career opportunities in every field — sports, tech, healthcare, nonprofits, politics, etc. Having access to this professional environment as a college student plays a significant role in my future career development, instilling a further fulfillment in my education, as well.

For me, PR isn’t just about “promoting things,” it dives deeper into areas like crisis communication and ethics, while building real trust with audiences. Being a future PR professional, trust is important to me since I don’t just want to create flashy campaigns — I want to learn how to communicate responsibly and make an impact in ways that actually matter.

PR will challenge me to grow in the best ways. While I already enjoy writing and connecting with people, I know I’ll need to sharpen my ability to think quickly, stay calm under pressure, and navigate crises with effective solutions.

Finally, I chose to pursue a PR degree because I wanted a program that was both challenging and practical. I know the experiences and connections I’ll gain will prepare me to step into the PR world with confidence, and I’m excited to see where it leads.
