The Public Relations (PR) major has grown in popularity in recent years. However, the question remains: How does a PR major help in the real world, and more importantly, why are people pursuing this major?

To start, a major in PR will help you build communication skills. It requires interaction with multiple people from a variety of different walks of life. For instance, you may choose a job in investor relations, which includes communication with the company management, as well as the investors and shareholders about the company, where it is headed, and any other updates. As a result, you gain a better understanding of communication and how to interact with various individuals.

Furthermore, PR allows practitioners to use creative and strategic thinking. Whether it is writing press releases or working with influencers for collaborations, PR professionals need to ensure that their strategies align with the organization's goals.

PR is all about relationships, whether with journalists who write about your organization or influencers. As a student pursuing a PR major, you build the skills necessary to maintain long-term relationships with the target consumers and stakeholders.

Finally, PR is an evolving field. With the rise of social media and the internet, PR professionals have had to get comfortable with learning about search engine optimization (SEO), data analytics, and influencer marketing and collaborations. Since the field is constantly evolving, working in PR gives professionals the opportunity to keep growing and constantly learn new skills.
